Hastings & District Geological Society
Welcome
This web-site has been constructed for access by HDGS members and anyone interested in knowing more about its activities, publications and membership. It was launched in January 2005 and will be updated approximately quarterly.
HDGS is a friendly local society for people interested in the earth sciences, including geology, palaeontology, mineralogy, petrology and tectonics. Activities include talks and displays from members and guest speakers, field trips and visits to museums and academic institutions. The Society also offers a small library for members to consult or borrow books. While our interests are not restricted to East Sussex, the Hastings area itself does offer a rich area for exploration.
Indoor meetings take place monthly on the third Sunday at 2.30pm in The Ore Centre, Ore Village, Hastings. At these meetings although there is usually a formal talk arranged, there is plenty of informal time to chat to other members, share new finds, browse through the library and find out about upcoming field trips or visits.
There are usually about four field trips or visits arranged each year, generally of a half to full day duration.
